Workforce Skills & Training offer a combined Asthma and Anaphylaxis course that is designed to train participants on how to deal with Asthma and Anaphylaxis allergies and reactions in a range of situations, including childcare centres, public places, workplaces, schools and sporting events. This unit of competency has been developed to provide participants with the skills to recognise an asthma attack, provide first aid assistance and hold blue reliever medication in a first aid kit for asthma emergencies and is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This training session includes the use of adrenaline auto-injecting devices EpiPen®/Anapen®). The training is in response to the increasing number of individuals in the population with the potential to experience an anaphylaxis allergic reaction. The unit covers the recognition, management, prevention and risk minimisation strategies related to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. It provides the outcomes required to develop and implement a management plan to reduce the risk of severe reactions in individuals diagnosed with anaphylaxis. This course is also suitable for any individuals, family members, friends who are concerned about asthma and / or anaphylaxis concerns either for themselves or for someone they know.
